Workshop Vid – Humans of Basic Income

Cahoots has always been something of an economic experiment. Can we create a space where everyone’s needs are met, and where we don’t need to worry about money – even for a few short days each year?

Our answer is – let’s try!

This year, Cahoots Transfigured heard from Jessie Golem about the possibilities of Basic Income to support us all in a changing world. And now, activists and advocates are working to transform the Canada Emergency Relief Benefit into a permanent guaranteed livable income!

We are proud to share Jessie’s workshop video with you! Thanks to Jessie, Chris for facilitating, and Lyf for editing!

Thank you!

Registration is now closed. Thank you for your interest in this newly reconfigured version of Cahoots! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Releasing our ‘2020 Vision’ …

… receiving Cahoots Transfigured!

Dearest friends,

With great sorrow we must cancel the 2020 in-person Cahoots festival.

We recognize that this will be a great loss for many and we assure you that we are working through our own sorrow as well.

Because we love you and couldn’t bear a year without seeing you, we are creating Cahoots Transfigured on Saturday May 23rd – a free virtual gathering. The day will involve sessions, music, and reflection. We will be using Zoom as our online platform and we hope this notice will give you some time to figure out how to use it. We will send an email and update our website and social media platforms with the details as we iron them out.

Cahoots Transfigured will have free registration. If you already purchased a ticket for 2020 Cahoots, we will refund your money in the coming weeks.

It is our sincere intention to return to our usual four-day festival in May 2021, all being well.

We wish you great peace and hope amidst these difficult times.

That’s right! We had such a great experience at Pearce Williams that we’re thrilled to return, and we hope that you’ll be there with us, sharing your joys, sorrows, skills, calling and conviction.

Please sign up to our email list and/or follow our Facebook page to get more updates towards the end of the year when we put out the call for workshops. But for now please do put it on your calendar. If you’re part of a faith community, share a ‘save the date’ announcement!

Cahoots Planning Team!

We did it! Cahoots 2019 is wrapped

Just a quick post to celebrate another successful Cahoots festival!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came, made donations, volunteered, led workshops, drove food, picked up trash, cleaned, stargazed, played music, made fires, checked for ticks, and helped out.

We had a great time at beautiful Pearce Williams. Thank you to a dedicated staff for all their support before, during and after. It was a wonderful way to be in community with God’s good creation – bugs, trees, stars and rain!

Check out our photos at Cahoots Flikr, follow our Facebook Page, and Instagram@cahootsfest.

Thanks to Matt from the Anglican Journal for this excellent write up. Share with your friends (not just the Anglican friends!)

Hope to see you all at Cahoots 2020 – Love, Peace and Solidarity!

Tickets for Cahoots 2018

It’s time for Cahoots – get your tickets!

As spring creeps closer, we start to think about our favourite gathering in the year, the Cahoots festival, where we gather as a community of Jesus-focused seekers oriented towards justice with a ‘DIY’ methodology – creating an event that models a society of right relationships, practicing the skills and habits of Shalom/holistic peacemaking, and releasing participants to create change in our world.

This year, the 5th annual festival, we are taking a deep breath and embracing a retreat format. We’ll be having moderated conversations and main speakers to help make space for connection around important conversations about who we are and where we’re going.

Each year we’ve all worked hard and pitched in – from leading worship, washing dishes, arranging carpools and applying for grants – and now it’s time to consider – what is this festival we have created? What is God calling us together to do? What do we need to do the work with grace, joy, and sincerity?

Will you join us for this festival retreat? Register via our Google Forms.
