2026 Sessions

Monster Collage (All Ages)Dust off your scissors and your gluesticks - it's collage time! We'll cut and paste to create our own monsters and engage our imaginations in telling their stories! We'll also hear some stories of Biblical monsters.

Rooted in Resistance: Grieving and Growing for a Wounded Planet (All Ages)The climate crisis can feel monstrous—in its scale, its injustice, and the ways it unsettles what we thought we knew about the world and ourselves. Shaped by systems that often go unnamed, it is not only an environmental issue but a deeply human and spiritual one. This session invites participants to gently face what feels overwhelming, to listen to what we often hide, and to encounter the more-than-human world not as something to control, but as something we are in relationship with. Through guided reflection, simple earth-based practices, and shared ritual, participants will explore both external and internal “monsters”—from systemic harm to grief, numbness, and burnout—with honesty and compassion. Together, we will cultivate grounding, resilience, and a renewed sense of care and responsibility within climate justice work.

The Council of All Beings (12+)Sarah will lead us in this communal ritual developed by Joanna Macy - "The Council of All Beings is a communal ritual in which participants step aside from their human identity and speak on behalf of another life-form. A simple structure for spontaneous expression, it aims to heighten awareness of our interdependence in the living body of Earth, and to strengthen our commitment to defend it. The ritual serves to help us acknowledge and give voice to the suffering of our world. It also serves, in equal measure, to help us experience the beauty and power of our interconnectedness with all life."

Place as Prayer (aka writing spaces) (12+)Spaces have a way of holding not only memories but our hopes for the future. Monologues and poetry give us an opportunity to pull these threads together as a prayer, lament, or unspoken message through the stories and images of a particular place.  WHICH ONE? In this session, we’ll talk a little bit about the monologue as a stylistic form, and will read other a few examples from plays and poetry. Then there will be an opportunity to write your own monologues about place  (as prayers or laments or something else entirely) and share them with the group.

Run Around Games (all ages)A variety of games will be played, including the elusive Peanut Butter Game - come and join to find out ;)

Fairy House Decor (all ages)Take a walk through the woods to collect materials, and then spend time weaving, arranging and decorating to make a tree into a possible house for a future fairy to live in.

Radical Imagination: Queering our Sacred Stories (12+)We know that God's love encompasses the Queer community, but we don't see a ton of representation of gender and sexuality diversity in the Bible. In this workshop, we’ll start by looking at some creative works (poetry, possibly others) that re-imagine familiar biblical texts to explicitly include queer folks. Then, we’ll flex our creative muscles to create some re-imaginings of our own!

Befriending Medusa (12+)We will learn (or relearn) a more fulsome version of the mythological story of Medusa. Was she really a "monster"? Her story has inspired authors exploring the Divine feminine and abuse survivors. We'll explore this and more, and possibly respond with artistic expression!

Sock-Puppet Making (all ages)We'll explore the wonderful world of sock puppets, including making our own!

Befriending your Shame Monster (18+)This ecospiritual multi-sensory workshop invites you to meet the Monster of Shame not
as an enemy, but as a wise protector of the body and soul. Rooted in Somatic
Experiencing and principles of eco-therapy, this experiential workshop infuses ritual with
guided meditation to help us draw Land, Spirit, and Self into dialogue. Join us as we
allow earth, breath, and sensation to transmute survival into a sense of Sacred
belonging.

Grappling with the Monster of Masculinity (12+)From both amab and afab perspectives, we'll reflection on topics like: default masculine socialization including how strategic emphases on gender differences, emotional invulnerability, and self-management contribute to loneliness, polarization, misogyny, transphobia, and sexual violence; addressing unhealthy masculinity in Christian spaces; the importance and beauty of intergender friendships; and the tension of supporting change without taking responsibility for another’s personal work. Short presentations by each facilitator will lead into small-group and plenary conversations. Let's grapple with this monster together!

Learning music: why? Or is that even the right question? (All ages)What is the purpose of music? What makes a 'successful' musical experience? Are these even helpful distinctions? What does it mean that we live in a beautiful world filled with wonder even in places that we cannot see? How does that inform our view of the need for things to have 'usefulness'? In this workshop, we’ll explore these and other questions through the lens of learning an instrument. No musical expertise needed!

Is it Good to Kill Bad People: A Thoughtful Conversation About the Ethics of Violence(12+)In this workshop we will delve into the moral complexity of violence. It will create a space to critically engage with examples of social and political situations where the ethics of violence and killing become blurry. The workshop will provide historical, political and legal context for the ways that violence and killing is and has been viewed. Together we will discuss where our perspectives of violence originate from, the ways they have changed over time and how they impact the ways we each move through the world. Violence and non-violence have deep connections to faith and religion. From pacifism to wars motivated by certain Christian beliefs. This workshop will be centred around vulnerable and underexplored discussions so be prepared for potentially challenging or upsetting conversations.

Who are "we?" (how answering that questions changes what you do) (12+)Who are 'we' ? Social psychology notes that the groups we identify with - or against - effects our beliefs, values, and behaviours in invisible but powerful ways. At this workshop we'll examine the social identities we've adopted, discarded, or resisted - and the subtle impacts they have on everything we do.

Create Through Your Limitations (12+)In this hands-on session, we'll explore using creative expression as a coping tool for both emotional and physical pain.

Ultimate Frisbee (All Ages)In this session we'll learn and practice Ultimate’s principle of self-refereed ‘spirit of the game’. This session will start with practice throwing & catching, then move into scrimmaging.
